COMPLETING ENERGIZING VAN PHONG 1 BOT THERMAL POWER PLANT 500KV SWITCHYARD, KHANH HOA PROVINCE

The plant uses ultra-supercritical technology, with a capacity of 1,320MW (including 2 generating sets of 660MW) in Van Phong economic zone, Khanh Hoa province under the form of BOT with a total investment of about 61,000 billion VND. Sumitomo Corporation, Japan - the investor of the project  commenced construction of the plant on October 6th, 2019. It is expected that the plant will officially come operation and operate commercially by the end of 2023. When put operation, the plant will supply the national grid system about 9 billion kWh per year. 

The construction time of this project is very short compared to other projects of similar size and nature. Construction started at the same time as the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with the volatile economic market, the high price of raw materials and freight, causing many difficulties in terms of human resources, materials and production machinery to the construction process of contractors at the project. Facing those challenges with determination and experience similar projects, at 09:00 am on December 30th, 2022, AIT CORP and related units successfully energized the 500kV Switchyard of Van Phong 1 Thermal Power Plant project, ensuring technical requirements and system operating standards. 

Van Phong 1 BOT Thermal Power Plant Project is a driving force project that plays an important role in the socio-economic development of the province in general and Van Phong Economic Zone in particular. When the project comes operation, it will contribute to the implementation of energy security for the national power grid system, create jobs for workers and contribute to the local budget. Not only that, the project is expected to spread, promote, and attract other projects to invest in Van Phong Economic Zone, develop local industry, create momentum for the economy of Khanh Hoa province and South Central region.
