AIT GROUP COMPLETES ENERGIZATION OF CAPACITOR BANKS ACROSS MAJOR PROJECTS

Overview of the capacitor installation area
The project to install additional shunt capacitors in the Northern power grid in 2025 is invested by the Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPTPMB), a subsidiary of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). Leveraging its extensive experience in implementing major projects, AIT Group was honored to be selected as the contractor responsible for supplying and transporting primary electrical equipment (VTTB) to the 220kV substations of Vinh Tuong, Vinh Yen, and Phu Tho.

Following the Resolution of the Party Standing Committee of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) on accelerating investment in key infrastructure projects in 2025—with the goal of completing the shunt capacitor installation project before April 30, 2025—AIT Group’s engineers and technical staff executed the project with high determination. Every phase and component was meticulously planned and implemented on schedule. The team coordinated closely with other units to work in shifts, including over holidays and festivals, while ensuring that all construction items met stringent quality and safety standards for safe, efficient commissioning.

As of April 17, 2025, all shunt capacitor banks at the Vinh Tuong, Vinh Yen, and Phu Tho 220kV substations were officially accepted and energized, ready for integration the grid. This project cluster also stands as a key milestone in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

Once operational, the overall project—and particularly the Vinh Tuong, Vinh Yen, and Phu Tho substations—will help meet the electricity demand of critical loads in the region, maintain voltage levels within permissible limits across the Northern transmission grid, and enhance system stability. This will contribute to reduced power and energy losses, while supporting improved productivity and business efficiency for localities across the North.
