Overview of the 110kV Thach Thanh Substation

Commenced in August 2022 in Thanh Tho Commune, Thach Thanh District, Thanh Hoa Province, the 110kV Thach Thanh Transmission Line and Substation Project—invested by Northern Power Corporation and classified as a Grade II, Group C energy project. The project includes the construction of a new 110kV substation equipped with a 40MVA-110/35/22kV transformer in the current phase. The scope also covers the construction of a control building, installation of equipment, surveillance and fire protection systems, and development of a communication and SCADA system.

Recognized for its consistent project delivery, AIT Group was selected by the Northern Power Corporation’s Grid Project Management Board to supply, transport, and install main equipment for the substation. Designed for unmanned operation, the substation will transmit real-time data to the Thanh Hoa Remote Control Center, the Northern Load Dispatch Center, and NPC’s central data platform—ensuring compliance with EVNNPC standards and enhancing grid management efficiency.

Driven by urgency and determination to complete the project within May 2024, AIT Group and its partner contractors maintained strict adherence to both schedule and quality standards throughout the implementation. At 8:40 PM on May 7, 2024, the 110kV substation was officially accepted and successfully energized. The achievement also served as a meaningful tribute alongside Thanh Hoa Power Company in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – May 7, 2024).

The substation’s commissioning will improve regional grid reliability, ensure adequate power supply for Thach Thanh District and nearby areas, and shorten the power distribution radius. It will also ease the load on Ha Trung and Thieu Yen 110kV substations, creating favorable conditions for safe and stable grid operations across the region.
