AIT GROUP SUCCESSFULLY ENERGIZES AND SAFELY COMMISSIONS PHU BINH 2 220KV SUBSTATION IN THAI NGUYEN PROVINCE

Phu Binh 2 220kV Substation is a key project of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), assigned to the Northern Power Corporation and executed by the Northern Power Construction Project Management Board during the 2024–2025 period. Construction officially began on September 4, 2024, with a total investment of VND 559.2 billion. The project includes:

• Construction of the Phu Binh 2 220kV substation,
• Installation of three 250MVA transformers (in Phase 1, two 250MVA-220/110/22kV transformers were installed),
• Construction of a new 9.16 km double-circuit 220kV transmission line, connected to the existing Thai Nguyen – Bac Giang 220kV line.

Leveraging its experience and technical capabilities, AIT Group was honored to be selected as the contractor responsible for supplying, transporting, and installing primary and secondary electrical equipment, computer-based control systems, and the SCADA system.

At exactly 8:30 PM on April 14, 2025, the Phu Binh 2 220kV Substation was successfully energized. This achievement is a testament not only to the decisive leadership of the project investor but also to the commitment and effective collaboration between AIT Group and all project stakeholders.

Completing and putting the Phu Binh 2 220kV Substation into operation during this historic April period is a meaningful gift from Vietnam Electricity (EVN), the Northern Power Corporation, the Northern Power Construction Project Management Board, and AIT Group to commemorate the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

Going forward, the Phu Binh 2 220kV Substation will contribute to power distribution and enhance the transmission capacity of existing lines, meeting the growing electricity demand for the socio-economic development of Thai Nguyen Province. Additionally, it will strengthen inter-regional connectivity within the power system, improve the safety and stability of the national grid, reduce power and energy losses, and ultimately enhance the operational efficiency of Vietnam Electricity Group./.
