AIT GROUP SUCCESSFULLY ENERGIZES YEN MY AND QUANG CHAU 220KV SUBSTATIONS

Yen My and Quang Chau 220kV Substations

The “Capacitor Installation for the Northern Power Transmission Grid 2024” project is a grade-II, group-B energy project with a total investment of nearly 190 billion VND. It is implemented at 8 substations across 7 northern provinces/cities that are major load centers, including: Long Biên (Hanoi), Quang Châu (Bắc Giang), Kim Động and Yên Mỹ (Hưng Yên), Thanh Nghị (Hà Nam), Bắc Ninh 3 (Bắc Ninh), Vĩnh Tường (Vĩnh Phúc), and Hải Hà (Quảng Ninh).

Meeting the strict requirements set by the investor—EVNNPT—AIT Group was selected to implement two bid packages: (1) Supplying primary equipment for the Yên Mỹ and Quang Chau 220kV substations; and (2) Supplying, transporting, installing secondary equipment, configuring systems, and SCADA setup for the Yen My 220kV substation.

Understanding the urgency and significance of the project, AIT Group and partner contractors mobilized maximum resources, increased manpower and machinery, and worked through weekends to ensure the overall project timeline. The leadership of EVNNPT and the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) recognized and highly praised the construction units’ efforts during their on-site inspection in April.

Quang Chau 220kV Substation

At 04:37 on April 23, 2024, the Yen My 220kV substation was successfully energized, followed by the Quang Chau 220kV substation at 23:09 on April 24, 2024—marking two key milestones in the completion of the Northern Grid Capacitor Installation Project 2024.

Once in operation, Yen My and Quang Chau substations—along with others in the project—will help maintain voltage levels within safe limits across the northern transmission grid, meet electricity demands of key loads in the region, enhance power supply reliability, reduce system losses, and improve the overall operational efficiency of Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
