CONTINUING TOWARD 2024 TARGETS, AIT GROUP SUCCESSFULLY ENERGIZES THE 220 KV SUBSTATION AT NGHI SON ECONOMIC ZONE

Located in Hai Thuong Ward, Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa Province, the facility is a Level-I, Group-B energy project invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). AIT Group served as the contractor for supplying primary equipment and turnkey substation construction (including land-clearance activities).

The project involved the new construction of a 220/110kV substation comprising two 250MVA power transformers.

• On the 220kV side, the design follows a double busbar configuration with a transfer circuit breaker, including 7 feeder bays.
• On the 110kV side, the design adopts a double busbar configuration with a ring bus, including 14 feeder bays.
• A new 4-circuit 220kV transmission line was constructed, with a total length of approximately 4.1km.
• A 22kV single-circuit transmission line, approximately 800m in length, was also built to supply auxiliary power to the substation.

Given the project’s importance and urgency, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) issued Resolution No. 260-NQ/ĐU (dated September 20, 2024), requesting acceleration of the project to ensure completion within October 2024. In response to this directive, AIT Group and the relevant contractors mobilized all available resources to execute the construction, implementing shift-based construction plans with determination to complete the project on time.

On October 27, 2024, the 220kV Nghi Son Economic Zone substation and its associated transmission lines were officially inspected, energized, and put into safe operation. The project enhances power supply to meet the growing demand in Thanh Hoa Province, especially in the Nghi Son Economic Zone, which is experiencing high electricity growth.

Once operational, the project will help meet the N-1 reliability criterion, improving the safety and reliability of the regional power grid while supporting the economic and social development of the local area and surrounding regions.
