LAUNCH OF SIVACON S4 SWITCHBOARD ALIGNED WITH GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
On December 5, 2023, the SIVACON S4 switchboard officially launched in Vietnam, alongside the forum “Sustainable Development & Net Zero Carbon 2050 – Vision and Challenges.”

The event was co-hosted by Siemens Vietnam and AIT (ADVANCED INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION), marking a key milestone in their partnership. This collaboration includes technology transfer and local manufacturing of the SIVACON S4 in Vietnam.

Dr. Pham Thai Lai, President and CEO of Siemens ASEAN and Vietnam, delivered the opening remarks.

Mr. Hoang Thanh Hai, Chairman of AIT Group, shared insights on AIT’s 20-year journey.

Produced with state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure, the SIVACON S4—manufactured locally—complements the existing SIVACON S8, offering a high-quality option for mid- to high-end segments such as commercial buildings, supermarkets, hotels, and industrial applications. This launch reinforces both Siemens and AIT’s commitment to sustainable development, ensuring power continuity, space efficiency, and operational effectiveness.

Vietnam’s green growth strategy is centered around sustainability, inclusivity, and humanity. Vietnamese businesses are actively aligning with the government’s efforts to meet the Net Zero emissions target by 2050.

Alongside the launch of the new SIVACON S4 switchboard, AIT and Siemens hosted the forum 'Sustainable Development & Net Zero Carbon 2050 – Vision and Challenges', addressing Vietnam’s renewable energy potential and roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with international cooperation, technology transfer, and mechanisms under the Paris Agreement.

The forum featured key speakers, including: Mr. Tang The Hung – Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development under Ministry of Industry and Trade; Dr. Pham Thai Lai – President and CEO of Siemens ASEAN and Vietnam; Mr. Nghiem Xuan Da – CEO of Vietnam Steel Corporation (VNSteel) and Chairman of the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA); and Mr. Douglas Snyder – Executive Director of the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC).

At the forum, Mr. Tang The Hung emphasized Vietnam’s COP28 commitments about policy frameworks for Net Zero and outlined the Ministry’s three focal areas: raising public and business awareness, and mobilizing resources to support sustainable, carbon-neutral business operations.

Expanding on this point, Mr. Douglas Snyder stressed that businesses should proactively manage risks tied to sustainability targets. He noted that the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is now officially in effect in Vietnam. In the wake of COP28, more stringent government regulations are expected to enforce green business practices. Meanwhile, market demand is shifting as consumers increasingly seek low-carbon, environmentally responsible products.

From a business perspective, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Da noted that Net Zero presents both a major opportunity and a significant challenge, particularly for high-emission sectors like steel. According to the International Energy Agency, the steel industry accounts for 8% of global CO₂ emissions. As part of its green transformation strategy, VNSteel is aiming to adopt cleaner technologies, such as green hydrogen, and to automate and digitize its production lines to improve energy efficiency. However, the company must also address the challenge of allocating human, financial, and time resources effectively to maintain competitiveness while meeting the government's carbon neutrality goals.

The vision and strategies shared at the forum 'Sustainable Development & Net Zero Carbon 2050 – Vision and Challenges,' together with the newly established partnership between Siemens Vietnam and AIT, are expected to contribute positively to Vietnam’s energy transition and green development. tác đánh dấu bước phát triển mới của Siemens Việt Nam và AIT được kỳ vọng sẽ góp phần tạo nên những tín hiệu tích cực trong việc phát triển năng lượng hướng tới phát triển xanh./.
