SUCCESSFUL COMMISSIONING OF THE 2ND 220KV TRANSFORMER – THÁI THỤY 220KV SUBSTATION, AIT GROUP CONTINUES TO CLOSE OUT APRIL 2024 PROJECTS

Transformer AT2 – Thai Thuy 220 kV Substation

The “Second 220 kV Transformer Installation – Thai Thuy 220 kV Substation” project, funded by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and managed on behalf of the investor by NPTPMB, is classified as a Grade I, Group C energy project within the existing Thái Thụy 220 kV Substation grounds in Thai Do Commune, Thai Thuy District, Thai Binh Province.

As a trusted contractor on numerous major projects, AIT Group was once again selected to supply, transport, and install the secondary equipment for the 220 kV transformer, including SCADA remote control and monitoring systems.

At the request of EVNNPT, the second 220 kV transformer at Thai Thuy Substation was fast-tracked to support local load demands. With the existing AT1 transformer operating at up to 90 percent capacity, NPTPMB collaborated with AIT Group and other contractors to concentrate resources, increase manpower and machinery, and organize work around the clock in three shifts with four crews—even through rest days—mirroring the intensity of the 500 kV Circuit 3 project to meet the energization deadline.

Through these concerted efforts and high determination, the second 220 kV transformer at Thai Thuy Substation was accepted and energized at midnight on April 27, 2024. This milestone also marks a key project celebrating the 70th anniversary of the historic Đien Bien Phu victory.

Upon completion, the new transformer will relieve overload at Thai Thuy Substation, ensure long-term stable power supply, enhance reliability for neighboring areas, and contribute to socio-economic development and improved living standards in Thai Thuy District and across Thai Binh Province.
