110kV Ascendas Substation – Binh Duong Province

The 110kV Thanh Tan Substation (located in Mo Cay District, Ben Tre Province) and the 110kV Ascendas Substation (located in Ben Cat City, Binh Duong Province) are part of a large-scale project invested by the Southern Power Corporation. The project involves the phase-splitting and construction of new substations and transmission lines across multiple southern provinces, including Binh Duong, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, An Giang, Ca Mau, and Can Tho City.

For this project, AIT Group was selected by EVNSPC as the main contractor for Package No. 13: Procurement of equipment and materials for the 110kV substations and 110kV transmission lines. This includes primary equipment and accessories, control and protection cabinets for feeder bays, AC/DC cabinets, and battery charging systems for both Thanh Tan and Ascendas substations.

Thanks to the support of the leadership of Ben Tre and Binh Duong provinces, the close direction from EVNSPC, the active involvement of the Southern Power Project Management Board, and the cooperation of local authorities and communities, both projects accelerated their construction schedules. With the strong commitment of engineers, staff, and contractors, the two substations were successfully energized: the 110kV Thanh Tan Substation was energized at 21:40 on April 24, 2024, followed by the successful energization of the 110kV Ascendas Substation at 04:06 AM on April 27, 2024.

It is reported that the successful energization of the 110kV Thanh Tan Substation will meet the electricity demand for the Tan Thanh Binh Industrial Cluster and nearby loads in Mo Cay Bac District. It will also help reduce load on the existing 110kV substations in Mo Cay, Ben Tre, and Cho Lach. As for the 110kV Ascendas Substation, after being accepted and put into operation, it will enhance the reliability of power supply for the Ascendas Protrade Binh Duong International Industrial Park, meeting the increasing electricity demand driven by the socio-economic development of Binh Duong Province.

Overview of the 110kV Ascendas Substation

The successful commissioning of both the 110kV Thanh Tan and 110kV Ascendas substations has contributed positively to the socio-economic development of Ben Tre and Binh Duong provinces. It also reflects the strategic vision of the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) in the Power Development Plan for southern provinces. This success further affirms AIT Group’s position as a reliable partner, ready in resources and commitment to accompany major power projects to completion.
